Budapest Airport Terminals 2A and 2B serve international and domestic flights while Terminal 1 is dedicated to freight services. Terminal 2 is 20 kms away from Budapest city center, and can be accessed by car in approximately 30 to 40 minutes depending on traffic. An often crowded shuttle bus (public bus 100E) connects the city center with the airport running every half hour from 4 AM until 12 PM. Railway stop “Ferihegy Airport” is 7 kms from Terminal 2, and can be accessed by city buses. Public transport is relatively cheap but often crowded, and you may have to stand throughout jour journey. Ticket machines may be available, or tickets can be bought from booths during daytime. Finding a booth selling tickets in off-peak hours can be challenging, and the city’s rude and merciless ticket controllers are famous for hunting down clueless foreigners. Taxi services are also available at the airport, but private cab drivers can easily overcharge. We recommend booking a service in advance, or calling a reputed taxi service provider through the phone. There is a modestly priced minibus service for passengers who are willing to wait until a minibus fills. In peak hours the minibus service can easily take hours as each passenger is taken directly to their destination address. Uber is no longer allowed to provide a service in Hungary.
